Costs

This menu is automatically calculated based on the number of files that you are depositing within your Collection, as well as standard fees associated with any deposition.

Explanation of fees

We are committed to providing open and free access to data. We therefore impose a one-off payment for deposition to safeguard the long-term future of the digital data.

Below is an explanation of the fees shown on the Costs page and what they relate to.

  • Object Fee - A fee is applied per digital object based on data category and file format. Some digital objects are charged on a sliding scale so the more you archive, the lower the cost per object. For some file types (e.g. photographs), a set number of files can be deposited for free under the general Accession Fee (discussed below). If this is the case the word ‘Free’ is shown under Cost.
  • Accession Fee - This is a standard fee that we apply to all depositions and includes a standard interface for your collection.
  • Storage Fee - This fee relates to the cost we charge for the ongoing curation of a collection. The fee is calculated per GB of uploaded data with the first 100GB included for free as part of the accession fee.
